The Streamsong and Still Wings

Balanced on a narrow shelf of dark, weathered stone, a great blue heron rises like a living sculpture above the slow-moving water. Its long neck curves in a subtle S-shape, held taut with intention, while steel-blue feathers fade into soft gray along its chest and wings. One thin leg anchors firmly to the rock as the other rests lightly, ready to shift at the slightest disturbance.

The backdrop of fractured layers of rock climb the bank in irregular steps, broken by tufts of dry grass and moss, hinting at the season’s change. The water below reflects muted greens and blues, gently rippling and pulling the scene into a quiet rhythm. The heron’s sharp eye and unwavering stance convey patience honed by instinct-an unspoken tension between stillness and sudden motion, where silence feels deliberate and every second matters.
